Jake Babcock
Research Coordinator
Jake Babcock is a research program coordinator under Drs. Sandeep Nayak and Brandon Weiss. His current research investigates the effects of psilocybin and MDMA on those with PTSD, as well as the nature of Hallucinogen Persisting Perception Disorder (HPPD). Under Dr. Elias Dakwar at Columbia University, he previously researched the therapeutic potential of ketamine for Substance Use Disorders (SUDs), including alcohol, cocaine, and opioids. Jake currently holds a bachelor's degree from Columbia University, where he studied psychology and philosophy. Prior to that, he served two enlistments in the United States Marine Corps, which informed much of his work with military veterans. He remains eager to merge these and other interests by later pursuing a Doctor of Medicine (MD). In doing so, he intends to continue investigating the therapeutic potentials of various substances, characterizing their risk-benefit profiles, and understanding what philosophical insights they might offer.
