Jake Babcock

Research Coordinator

Jake Babcock is a research program coordinator under Dr. Sandeep Nayak, investigating the therapeutic potentials of psilocybin and similar substances. His current research focuses on understanding how psilocybin affects those diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). His previous research, under Dr. Elias Dakwar at Columbia University, primarily concerned the therapeutic potentials of ketamine for alcohol, cocaine, and opioid use disorders. Jake currently holds a bachelor's degree from Columbia University, where he studied psychology and philosophy. Prior to that, he served in the Marine Corps, which informed much of his work with military veterans. He remains eager to merge these and other interests by later pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in clinical psychology. In doing so, he intends to investigate the therapeutic potentials of various substances, characterize their risk-benefit profiles, and understand any philosophical insights they might offer.
