Dara Friedman-Wheeler, PhD

Dara Friedman-Wheeler, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist in Maryland. After receiving her PhD from American University, she completed post-doctoral fellowships at the University of California, San Francisco, and at the University of Pennsylvania, studying cognitive behavioral interventions for chronic physical pain and for suicidality. She was Professor of Psychology at Goucher College, where she taught for 13 years and is on the speakers' faculty of the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy. She is co-author of the book, Being the Change: A Guide for Advocates and Activists on Staying Healthy, Inspired, and Driven Dr. Friedman-Wheeler has a small private practice. Her interests include mood disorders, addictions, cognitive behavior therapies, mindfulness, expectancies for coping strategies and treatments, and addressing issues of health equity and disparities.
