We are seeking individuals with Opioid Use Disorder to participate in a research study looking at the effects of psilocybin, a psychedelic drug found in naturally occurring mushrooms.
The study will investigate whether psilocybin can reduce illicit opioid use and improve quality of life.
Volunteers must be between the ages of 21 and 70, and have a problematic use of opioids. Participants can earn up to $660 for completing all portions of the study procedures.
Confidentiality will be maintained for all applicants and participants.
What does participation entail?
Participants will first be started on buprenorphine by the study team
Participants who have very recently started buprenorphine in the community may also join
Participants will receive either a high dose or a low dose of psilocybin
There are 4 weekly follow-up visits for a month, then again at 6 weeks, 2 months, 3 months, and 6 months following treatment.
Participants will continue to receive buprenorphine for 2 months for free from the study team and then will be referred to treatment in the community
