Terence Matthew Penn, PhD

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Terence completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he examined biological, psychological, and social (i.e., biopsychosocial) mechanisms contributing to enhanced pain and disability among racial minorities with chronic pain. Prior to joining CPCR, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School where he received extensive training in mindfulness-based interventions. Terence is interested in the overlap between mindfulness practice and psychedelic-assisted therapy, particularly regarding their impact on mental, physical, and spiritual health. He is also passionate about supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in psychedelic medicine and mental health care.
