Jérémie Richard, PhD
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Jérémie Richard is the recipient of the prestigious Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship awarded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). Jérémie completed his M.A. and Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology at McGill University, Québec, Canada. His graduate research was broadly focused on understanding the etiology and development of addictive behaviors, including both substance use disorders and behavioral addictions. For his doctoral dissertation, he investigated the generalizability of two common developmental pathways for substance use disorders (i.e., externalizing and internalizing pathways) as applied to both problem gambling and disordered gaming behaviors. He also conducted research identifying risk and protective factors for addiction among both adolescent and adult populations.
Jérémie has previous clinical experience working in hospital and community settings providing psychotherapy to individuals presenting with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and substance-related/addictive disorders. He also has experience working with couples presenting to psychotherapy with relationship and/or sexual difficulties.
Jérémie's work at the CPCR will investigate the potential benefits of psychedelic assisted therapy in the treatment of substance use disorders and behavioral addictions.
