Sofia Rubin
Research Coordinator
Sofia Rubin is a Research Program Coordinator working under Dr. Albert Garcia-Romeu. Sofia is investigating therapeutic uses for psilocybin in various populations including those with post-treatment Lyme Disease, Alzheimer’s Disease or Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), and Cannabis-Use Disorder. Sofia graduated from Purchase College, SUNY with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Sociology.
Sofia has previously conducted research focusing on how classism influences the social lives of college students, as well as children’s explanations for societal inequalities. She has also worked within the behavioral health department of a non-profit healthcare organization, participating in the expansion of behavioral health treatment in an underserved community.
Sofia’s research and clinical experiences have shaped her approach to understanding mental health from a socio-cultural perspective. Her combined research and clinical experiences have fostered her interest in the therapeutic usage of psychedelics as a potential advancement in mental health treatment and its accessibility. Sofia intends to pursue graduate study in clinical psychology.
