Sydney White

Research Coordinator

Sydney White is a research program coordinator investigating the therapeutic and consciousness-altering effects of psilocybin. She works under Dr. Sandeep Nayak to better understand the therapeutic efficacy of psilocybin on opioid use disorder and anorexia nervosa using clinical and behavioral techniques to assess acute symptom alleviation and longer-term effects on psychopathology. She is also interested in the acute and long-term effects of psilocybin on co-occurring disorders such as major depressive disorder and suicidality.

Prior to joining the CPCR, Sydney conducted research at the Johns Hopkins Center for Mood Disorders, working on a multi-site study comparing the efficacy of intravenous ketamine and electroconvulsive therapy as treatments for treatment-resistant depression. Sydney graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 2021 studying Psychology and Spanish and intends to continue her education by pursuing Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a focus on translational research, implementation science, and major depressive disorder.
